Nest Favorites: Say Goodbye to Dry Skin

It’s the end of winter. Anyone else struggling with dry skin, because we have been fighting it really bad this winter. It’s been dry, windy, and really cold. The perfect storm to wreak havoc on your skin and hair.

So today, I am sharing a quick round up of our favorite safer and toxin-free moisturizers and oils, that will work for everyone in your family.

Lemongrass Sugar Scrub:

This is the most luxurious sugar scrub I have ever used. I have also never smelled something, scented with only cold-pressed essential oils, that smells soooooo good and fresh. This sugar scrub is made with brown sugar to buff away dead skin and mineral-rich evening primrose, sweet almond, apricot kernel, and sunflower oils to leave skin incredibly soft. I use this 1-2 times a week to exfoliate and add another layer of moisture, you will fall in love with this lemongrass smell!

Hydrating Body Lotion:

Now I’ve tried several toxin-free body lotions that didn’t condition my skin well or did, but left a greasy residue. I was hesitant to try Beautycounter’s body lotion because I didn’t think a non-conventional body lotion could deeply moisturize without leaving a greasy residue. However, I was seriously blown away with this lotion. It is nourishing, moisturizing, and doesn’t leave a residue. It absorbs into your skin immediately. I love this lotion! This is what I slather Evelyn in every night. The scent has become loved and cherished in our home!

It contains a moisturizing blend of marula, mongongo, and safflower seed oils, plus shea and jojoba butters. Rich in antioxidants and amino and fatty acids, these ingredients ensure your skin stays smooth and supple.

Citrus Mimosa Body Butter:

This is an incredibly rich body butter that absorbs easily without feeling greasy which is perfect for very dry skin! Shea butter and mongongo oil hydrate and nourish skin, while organic sunflower oil, aloe, and chamomile soothe and smooth. I soak my hands and feet in this body butter every night and have seen such a difference in the health of my skin. I also use this on Evelyn’s face if she has a cold and needs some added moisture.

Cleansing Balm:

Hands down my favorite product! I use this as a face wash every night using the oil cleansing method. It is the best face wash I have ever used! I used to prefer face washes that had beads for exfoliation, but I was overdoing the amount of exfoliation that my skin needed. Since using this as a face wash my skin has completely changed for the better. My pores are clearer (from oil cleansing/pulling), the oils in this product melt away the oils and dirt stuck in my pores so I can wash them away. It is incredibly moisturizing, and has helped to clear up the small “acne bumps” I always had on my forehead.

But this cleansing balm as a million and one uses. I also use this as an overnight mask 2-3 times a week in the winter, and I wake up with hydrated and soft skin in the dead of winter. I also use this on cuts and scrapes, Evelyn’s tushy and face, and so much more.

The cleansing balm melts into your skin to hydrate while it cleanses, removing makeup but never strips away moisture. It has vitamin C to brighten the appearance of skin and raspberry and cranberry seed oils to hydrate.

Lustro Shimmer Oil:

This is a dry-oil formula (non-greasy), made with nourishing jojoba, grape-seed, and sesame oils. Added bonus? It makes you look sun kissed without all the harmful ingredients in self-tanning products. My legs are going to hair their grand appearance for spring soon, and this stuff will me a life saver! I use this on my chest and arms as an added layer of moisture and also to help my very fair skin look a little sun kissed. I get so many compliments whenever I put this on.

So there you have it, our favorite moisturizers and oils for these harsh and cold winter and early spring months. I hope to help any other fellow dry skin sufferer out there who are looking for safer alternatives to solve dry skin issues.
